VP of Railroad Construction Services
Josh Shamhart is a true Midwesterner, born and raised in Altamont, Illinois, where he developed a strong work ethic and a passion for bass fishing, Seattle Seahawks football, and spending quality time with his wife and two lovely children.
Josh’s career path started as an Apprentice Power Lineman, and he continued to excel in this field while serving as an Infantryman in the United States Marine Corps, where he completed tours in Iraq in 2003 and 2004. After his military service, he progressed to become a Journeyman Lineman and eventually rose to the position of Utilities Superintendent, where he oversaw Line Crews, Substation Electricians, and budgeted electrical grid improvements. While holding this role, Josh pursued higher education in Electrical Technology, which further expanded his expertise.
In 2015, Josh’s wife received a job offer in Joplin, Missouri, prompting the family to embark on a new adventure. Josh, always open to new challenges, decided to shift to the railroad industry and join CDL, located just a few miles from their new home. He started as a Railroad Signal Installer, driven by the company’s fast-growing potential and the promise of advancing quickly.
Josh’s unwavering dedication to the Railroad Division paid off, and he rose through the ranks to become Vice President, where he now oversees the entire Railroad Construction Division. With his leadership, the division has doubled its personnel and clientele, and his team of Railroad Construction Professionals is widely recognized as the best in the industry.
Josh is committed to continuing to grow the division and the company in the right direction, always mindful of his team’s success. He values the opportunities presented to him at CDL and is passionate about presenting similar opportunities to his team members.
Josh’s dedication to his work, his family, and his community is inspiring, and we are proud to have him as our VP of Railroad Construction Services at CDL.
